The husband & I drove to this one to check it out because we live in Knoxville & wanted a weekend get-away place. Due to the decent reviews on this website, we were hopeful that this would be it. However, this looked like a parking lot!!! I believe Wal-Mart has free overnight RV parking that is comparable to what you will pay for here. The pool is the size of a really large shot glass and the water slide that has gotten reviews appears to be nothing more than a RV tarp that someone dragged behind them trying to escape and they decided to toss it on a little bank and let the kids slide down it since they have nothing else to do. Needless to say, we didn't stay here. The lady in the office was very friendly, and to that I grant the 2 stars.

We live close by and wanted to check this one out. This is the type of campground that you want to stop off at - not vacation at. It is clean and well kept. It appeared to us that all of the sites are drive-through sites, which is really nice and there seemed to be plenty of space in-between each spot. It is really convenient to the interstate, without the noise of it, so we saw a lot of people come and go. The owners were really nice and they are building a pond for fishing, so soon there will be something to pass the time but don't go here for an eventful stay.

We just got back today from a 5 day stay at James Island County Park. This was our first time to the park, but not our first time to Charleston. We actually had plans to "see the sights" but only left the campground 3 times! (One was for groceries and the other was to meet family in Myrtle Beach for the day) I can't imagine a better park anywhere. To be honest, I was a little put off by the fact that there is no cable or internet access but, after we checked the place out, we found that we probably didn't have time for such things at this place. The grounds are immaculate and there is a ton of stuff for kids to do. The 10 mph is strictly enforced and the bike trails are fantastic! The water park is perfect for all ages. We thought it was just the right size to relax and be able to keep up with your kids without chasing them around everywhere. Tickets were $6.99 if purchased at the campground (all ages above 2) and $9.99 if purchased at the water park. If you go to the water park after 3:00, the water park sells them for $4.99. (They stay open until 6:00) Be sure to take your fishing gear. They have several great ponds and marshes to cast your line in. There is also a daily activity - none of which we participated in. We stayed on the go constantly. This campground is heavily secured. We had no disturbances the entire week. This is definitely a place where you can let your kids go loose on bikes, within reason, without fear of being mowed down by speeding vehicles. We did not use the restrooms but my husband checked them out "just in case" and found them to be in great condition. We will without a doubt use this park again the next time we are in Charleston.

We really enjoyed this park. There are a lot of trees; therefore, there is plenty of shade. We saw a lot of people with pets. The only complaint we have is that they do not enforce the speed limit throughout the campground. There are no speed bumps through the campground so vehicles traveled very fast! I actually feared for my kids that were riding their bikes. The couple that ran the front gate were very friendly and helpful. They drive throughout the campground frequently and keep everything under control. The campground was very quiet, peaceful, and very neat. I would give it a "10" if it not for the speeding traffic.

This was our first time out of the driveway with our travel trailer. I honestly do not have experience for comparison, but I can't imagine a better time to be had. The campground was very quiet. I believe most of the campers on the site were there under monthly rentals because we didn't see a whole lot of activity. The staff were friendly and we were even greeted by an off-duty Decatur police officer that regularly patrols the park when he is off-duty to make sure nothing is afoot. He says that the residents are proud of their park and want to preserve its image. It must be working because it was very clean and well groomed. We were there over the holiday weekend and, even so, did not see evidence of neglect with the upkeep, trash pick-up, etc. We will definitely stay here again since we regularly visit the area to visit my family.
